Washington Talent represents Black Tie, the band we hired for our wedding. The band itself was phenomenal—our guests raved about the music, the energy, and the performance. They truly elevated the celebration, and we couldn’t have been happier with the talent on stage.
Unfortunately, our experience with the agency left much to be desired. Ruben, the representative initially assigned to our booking, was often unresponsive and flaky. It took multiple emails to finally reach someone, and eventually Ruben was pulled off our account. Despite paying a significant amount, we were told not to make specific requests and to simply let the band “do their thing,” which didn’t sit right with us.
To make matters worse, just a week before the wedding we learned from the band leader that the song list posted online wasn’t accurate due to band member changes—something we would have expected the agency to flag much earlier. On the night itself, the music cut out during the event, and we never received any explanation or even an apology from Washington Talent about the technical issue.
Overall, while Black Tie was outstanding, the agency’s communication and professionalism fell short. A three-star review feels fair: amazing band, but disappointing representation.

I cannot say enough a bout Helena and the amazing job she did emceeing our event. She has the ability to read the room and change direction to go with the mood of the crowd. She had all of our guests dancing, cheering, and having a great time. The entire crew was fantastic from the DJ the motivators and the Photo Booth. We did not want dancers who led dances. Instead they just jumped in with the crowd and brought kids onto the dance floor. They played the music we wanted and threw in some surprises that pleased the crowd. You cannot go wrong with Washington Talent and ask for Helena!

The world is full of amazing people, but there are very few that can match the energy from Jose. He understands the importance of staying active in the moments while also disappearing into the background when necessary. Socializing while working can be incredibly difficult and distracting but Jose is able to capture the moments, both candid and posed, and also hold a conversation. Excited for more events!

We LOVED our entire experience. The showcases to pick a band is brilliant and was so helpful for us feeling confident about the band, and our every interaction with Shana, Darin (from Encore) and the rest of the band was absolutely exceptional. Shana and Darin were so responsive and kind leading up to the wedding, and the night of our wedding Darin was thoughtful, full of energy, and willing to make changes on the fly. DJ Sam was phenomenal! He was the heartbeat of our wedding reception—keeping the energy high and the dance floor packed from start to finish. From our first conversation, he was responsive, professional, and truly listened to what we wanted. His communication was clear and reassuring every step of the way, and on the big night, he absolutely delivered. The transitions were seamless, the song choices were spot-on, and he read the crowd perfectly.
